US President Donald Trump is meeting with five African presidents this week. The leaders of Liberia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Gabon are attending talks at the White House.
While the official agenda remains unclear, the US administration recently shook global economies by announcing tariff hikes and cutting aid. Trump’s tariffs have adversely affected commodity prices across the continent. This week, he further imposed a 30% tariff on exports from South Africa.
