Americans will cast their votes in less than 48 hours to elect their 47th President in a highly contested election between former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump and deputy president and Democrat's candidate, Kamala Harris.

A win for Harris will usher in a new era for US politics as it will be the first time is led by a woman, while a Trump win will also be a first for a candidate who was not re-elected for a second term to return to the White House.

In a historic political shift, Botswana's new president, Duma Boko, assumed office on Friday after an election that ended nearly six decades of Botswana Democratic Party governance.

The 54-year-old human rights lawyer and head of the opposition Umbrella for Democratic Change coalition took the oath of office in a closed session with the chief justice, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Botswana's democracy.

Maritime professionals, industry leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the continent and beyond will this week gather at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in KwaZulu Natal Province in South Africa for the Africa Maritime Investment Indaba.

The indaba will take place from Wednesday the 6th to the 8th of November.

The event serves as a key platform to unlock Africa's 3 trillion dollars ocean economy, showcasing Durban's maritime potential.
