Tanzania has released a Kenyan activist who had been arrested after he tried to attend a hearing in the treason case against a detained opposition leader in Dar es Salaam, Kenyan authorities said on Thursday.

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights said it had received Boniface Mwangi in Kenya's southeastern Kwale County on Thursday afternoon.

Kenya's Foreign Minister, Musalia Mudavadi, also confirmed Mwangi's release. For more on this, Tanzania correspondent, Gabriel Zakaria.

Update: Kenyan Activist Boniface released

Zambia's former President Edgar Lungu, who died last week, left instructions that his successor Hakainde Hichilema "should not be anywhere near" his body. This is according to Lungu family's spokesperson, lawyer Makebi Zulu.

The government had planned to fly his body back home on Wednesday, but failed to do so because of a dispute with Lungu's family and his political party, the Patriotic Front (PF), over mourning and funeral arrangements. in a video released from South Africa on Thursday, Zulu said the family had put in place "all logistics" to fulfil Lungu's wishes to be given a private funeral and that Hichelema "should not be anywhere near" his body.
