On Monday, the Saba Saba protests across Kenya, particularly in Nairobi’s Kangemi suburb, turned violent.
Police reportedly fired live ammunition to disperse demonstrators marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s historic pro-democracy rallies. According to reports, at least 10 people were killed and dozens injured.
There are growing concerns over the use of plainclothes officers and allegations that police ignored court orders requiring them to be identifiable during public operations.
