Unmarried fathers in South Africa are still struggling to register the births of their children, despite a 2021 Constitutional Court Judgement which declared sections of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, unconstitutional.
This concern was raised at the recently held Population Policy Conference in Magaliesburg, in the Gauteng Province.
Addressing delegates on the matter, Sindi Moyo from the Scalabrini Center in Cape Town, maintained that the United Nations' transformative goal of "Leaving No One Behind" will not be achieved, if countries fail to ensure legal documentation for everyone....
