Tunisia eases cybercrime penalties after years of criticism over its controversial ‘fake news’ decree

Tunisian President Kais Saied has recently made amendments to the cybercrime decree.  The decree carried a five-year prison term for instance publishing of what would be regarded as fake news under this decree. The punishment has now been lessened. Political Analyst and Middle East and North Africa Researcher Ibrahim Dean says the lessening of the punishment is a good thing.  The decree has been heavily critisised since it came into place by Activists and Journalist organisations few years ago.
