The United Nations presented a new plan for Libya that aims to overcome the political deadlock, and put the country back on the path to long-awaited presidential elections. The UN told the Security Council that the plan will address the political impasse and stop the deteriorating humanitarian situation in that country. Libya has undergone a chaotic decade since it split in 2014 between two administrations in its east and west following the NATO-backed uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The warring parties have agreed, at talks in Morocco, last Thursday to work together with a United Nations Mission to pave the way for elections.
