South Africa's (SA) Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ganief Hendricks has lauded the mentorship programme of "What About the Boys initiative".

Hendricks  was speaking at the State of The Boy Child 3-year impact report launch that took place at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, in SA. The initiative seeks to influence the boy child through edutainment programmes, emotional intelligence education and digital platforms, as the southern Africa nation grapples with the scourge of Gender Based Violence and a high unemployment rate among boys.

The Global Terrorism Index has revealed that deaths from terrorism in the West surged by 280 per cent in 2025, contrasting starkly against a global decline of 28 per cent. Several civil society organisations led by the Aids Healthcare Foundation gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, to call on the European Union( EU) to stop blocking Health Equity ahead of the final negotiations of the World Health Organisation Pandemic Treaty. They say the treaty cannot move forward until the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing ( PABS) Annex is finalized.   The Annex determines how pathogen samples are shared and whether all countries benefit from vaccines.
