The Principal Programme Officer at the African Science Technology and Innovation Indicators (ASTII) Lukovi Seke has emphasised the importance of navigating both the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions as the continent embraces digital transformation.

He highlights the need for high-level capabilities to interconnect technologies and allow human-machine interaction. Seke was speaking on the margins of a two day T20 Africa High-Level Dialogue which took place in Pretoria.

The Global Terrorism Index has revealed that deaths from terrorism in the West surged by 280 per cent in 2025, contrasting starkly against a global decline of 28 per cent. Several civil society organisations led by the Aids Healthcare Foundation gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, to call on the European Union( EU) to stop blocking Health Equity ahead of the final negotiations of the World Health Organisation Pandemic Treaty. They say the treaty cannot move forward until the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing ( PABS) Annex is finalized.   The Annex determines how pathogen samples are shared and whether all countries benefit from vaccines.
