South Sudan’s Foreign Ministry has vigorously denied reports that it is in talks with Israel to resettle Palestinians displaced from Gaza. The denial follows an Associated Press report suggesting that Israel had approached Juba about possibly housing Gazans, an initiative South Sudan described as “baseless” and entirely at odds with its official policy.
Earlier, South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Monday Semaya Kumba, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, a visit now under scrutiny in light of these mounting allegations.
