Social Policies in Africa

The global COVID-19 shock saw governments across Africa implementing a number of polices aimed at containing the pandemic, but these policies also severely deepened pre-existing social and economic inequalities that have had a devastating effect on the most vulnerable.

The Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana has undertaken a 31-country study assessing the trajectory of social policy in Africa, and how it be shifted to being more transformative in helping fulfil development agendas such as Africa 2063 Peter Ndoro spoke to Nana Akua Anyidoho an Associate Professor at the University of Ghana and also Co-Principal Investigator of the project looking at Gender equitable and transformative social policy for a post-Covid Africa.
