Cameroon marks 10 years of Anglophone conflict as thousands remain dead and displaced

Cameroon is marking ten years since the start of a conflict in its English-speaking regions that has killed thousands and displaced more than one-and-a-half million people. The Anglophone crisis began in October 2016 and has had a particularly serious impact on children. There is still no definitive record of the number of people killed, with estimates ranging from 6,500 to more than 10,000. Rights organisations, including the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, have documented about 4,000 deaths between 2016 and 2023, with around half of the victims identified by name. Moki Kindzeka reports from Yaounde, Cameroon.
