South Africa's Information Regulator (IR) has issued a directive to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) prohibiting the publication of the 2024 matric results in newspapers.
The IR's enforcement notice highlighted that the department had violated the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) by failing to obtain students' consent before making their information public.
For more, we are joined by Advocate Pansy Tlakula, Chairperson of the Information Regulator.
