South Africa's (SA) Department of Agriculture, has partially lifted a ban on the import of poultry products from Brazil. Starting tomorrow (June 19), poultry products from Brazil will once again be allowed into the country, except shipments from Rio Grande do Sul, a region affected by a recent outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
The partial lifting of the ban by the department is seen as a critical step in addressing South Africa's growing food security concerns.
