South Africa's (SA) Communications Minister Solly Malatsi defended his proposed draft policy in parliament on Tuesday. He says the proposals published for public comments last Friday were not only meant for Elon Musk's Starlink.

The proposed changes to the current legislation could see the provision of a 30% local ownership of foreign-owned company removed or watered down in favour of a recognition of equity equivalence investment.

Several civil society organisations led by the Aids Healthcare Foundation gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, to call on the European Union( EU) to stop blocking Health Equity ahead of the final negotiations of the World Health Organisation Pandemic Treaty.
