The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is experiencing lower-than-optimal blood stock levels, and stabilising supply is critical for patient care. The organisation says that while Group O and Group B are particularly important due to their compatibility and emergency use, all blood groups are urgently needed. They have highlighted that January donations drop every year due to holiday travel, limited drives and disrupted routines. The organisation is calling on the public to go and donate, detailing that a single 30-minute donation can save up to three lives.
