South Africa has officially reopened the Lesotho Highlands Water Project tunnel in Clarens, Free State Province, following a six-month shutdown for joint maintenance.
Led by Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina and her deputies David Mahlobo and Sello Seitlholo, the project resumed water flow to the Ash River on 22 May.
While South Africa completed its maintenance in March, delays in Lesotho extended the shutdown.
