It's not yet clear if Angola will make the cut to join the BRICS plus countries despite being invited to join by South Africa.
There are various issues at play here including that BRICS plus currently doesn't have the capacity to accommodate additional members and that consensus among existing members is required before a new member can join.
Member of the BRICS Business Council in South Africa Dr Stavros Nicolaou says it's harder to reach consensus with additional new members now.
Nicolaou spoke to Channel Africa on the sidelines of the South Africa-Angola Business Forum that took place on Thursday in Pretoria to facilitate bilateral trade between the two countries.
