Ruto’s Tanzania visit seals deals and resets key regional economic ties

View descriptionShare

President William Ruto is concluding a landmark two-day state visit to the United Republic of Tanzania. This trip has been defined by high-level symbolism and concrete economic milestones, notably President Ruto's historic address to the Tanzanian Parliament in Dodoma yesterday-the first time a Kenyan Head of State has ever been granted that honour. From signing eight new cooperation agreements to setting a bold June 30 deadline to eliminate non-tariff barriers, the mission in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma has been about one thing: resetting the 'on-off' relationship between the region's two largest economies. To help us understand the outcomes of these talks and what they mean for the 'Silicon Savannah' and the 'Tanzanian industrial push,' we are joined now by the Spokesperson for the Kenyan Government, Isaac Maigua Mwaura.
