Global auditing firm, PwC has released its sixth South Africa (SA) Economic Outlook report for 2024.

The report looks at the impact of climate change on the production of commodities by the mining and agricultural sectors that are essential for South Africa's transport, construction, manufacturing and nutrition sectors, and more broadly, its green transition.

Dali Tambo, son of South Africa's late struggle stalwarts of the African National Congress (ANC) leaders Oliver and Adelaide Tambo,  says he thinks if his parents were alive they would tell the current crop of ANC leaders that they should uphold morals and be servant politicians.

Tambo's foundation is part of a few foundations in the country  founded by prominent South Africans including the Thabo Mbeki and Steve Biko Foundations that have called on citizens to join in a National Dialogue to re-shape the direction of the nation as the country anxiously awaits the announcement of the cabinet of the 7th administration since the May 29th poll.

Tambo spoke to Channel Africa news reporter Thuto Ngobeni.

Tambo foundation calls on SA citizens to join in a National Dialogue

Gender parity in leadership positions in South Africa (SA) has long been a contentious issue, reflecting broader global challenges in achieving equality.

As President Cyril Ramaphosa completes the list of his cabinet, gender activists are hoping that he will have a balanced team with a fair representation of women.

According to the latest figures released by the Commission for Gender Equality in South Africa women's representation in the National Assembly has historically been on a steady increase since 1994, until a three percent drop in 2014 from 43 percent in 2009 to 40 percent in 2014.

However, the latest data obtained in 2018 show that the three-percent loss has subsequently been recovered in the period after the 2014 elections, thereby placing the representation of women back at an all-time high of 43 percent.

Channel Africa reporter Michael Mbewe spoke with the president of the Women's Global Network, Tshepiso Masenya about her expectations on the cabinet that is yet to be announced.
