South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has commended the bilateral and trade relationship and cooperation between South Africa and Angola and has acknowledged the role Angola played to South Africa during the liberation struggle.

Ramaphosa was hosting Angolan President João Lourenço on Thursday at the Union Buildings in South Africa's capital, Pretoria, where he thanked his counterpart for Angolan efforts towards peacebuilding in the Southern African Development Community and the rest of the continent.

Libya has been grappling with political fragmentation and instability since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, leading to years of division between rival factions.

After more than a decade of turmoil, including a failed election attempt in 2021, talks happening in Morocco have brought together delegations from two key legislative bodies-the High Council of State in Tripoli and the House of Representatives in Benghazi.

In their discussions, they have agreed to work with the United Nations to pave the way for elections and form a national unity government, with a focus on institutional and security reforms.

However, scepticism remains among Libyans about whether these political leaders will genuinely cooperate for a peaceful resolution.
