Israel’s cabinet has announced plans to take direct military control of Gaza City, a move Oxfam describes as a dangerous escalation that could lead to catastrophic humanitarian consequences. More than two million Palestinians in Gaza have already endured severe bombardment, starvation, and restrictions on basic rights.
