Podemos Presidential candidate Venancio Mondlane is back in Mozambique after a self-imposed exile following the country's hotly contested elections in October last year, whose results he rejected.
However, over a fortnight ago the country's highest court confirmed the final official results announcing Frelimo's Daniel Chapo as the official winner of the elections.
Mondlane's arrival in the country which comes ahead of Chapo's inauguration next week, was met with cheers from thousands of supporters at the airport, before riot police armed with tear gas moved in.
The opposition leader went on to join Mozambique's opposition party leaders who took part in talks hosted by President, Filipe Nyusi in an attempt to resolve the post-election impasse.
What can we expect now that he is back in the country. For more, Peter Ndoro Greg Mills,Director, The Brenthurst Foundation.
