The feud between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a decades-long conflict that has blocked collaboration between the neighbours. This morning, we look at what it would take to bring peace between Rwanda and the DRC, giving context to the history that plunged the African Great Lakes region into turmoil.
We speak to Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, a Rwandan politician. In 2010, Victoire returned to Rwanda from exile in the Netherlands to run for presidential candidate but was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison. She was later released after 8 years of incarceration in 2018 by a presidential grace.
