Four international aid agencies have joined forces to strengthen the protection of children in Somalia.

Save the Children, World Vision, Plan International and SOS Children's Villages have launched the Joining Forces Somalia Chapter in Mogadishu, aiming to combat violence against children and improve child protection systems amid conflict, climate shocks and limited access to essential services.

‘Joining Forces’ Alliance Launched in Mogadishu to Protect Children

Cyclone Gezani has struck Mozambique's southern province of Inhambane, killing at least four people and leaving thousands without electricity or access to clean water.

The storm hit just a day after devastating Madagascar, where at least 41 people died and tens of thousands were displaced.

Joining Asanda Beda is Guy Taylor, UNICEF Mozambique's Chief of Advocacy, Communication and Partnerships, to discuss the humanitarian response and the impact on children and vulnerable communities.

Africa faces many challenges, from conflicts and humanitarian crises to governance issues and climate change.

Regional and faith, based institutions are increasingly working together to address these challenges and promote peace, democracy, and sustainable development across the continent.

One such effort is the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between the African Union and the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), aimed at strengthening cooperation on human rights, good governance, and integral human development.

To discuss what this partnership means in practice,  is Reverend Father Louison Emerick Bissila Mbila, SECAM Liaison Officer at the African Union in Addis Ababa....

South Sudan is battling its largest cholera outbreak since independence, with tens of thousands of lives at risk over the past two years.

Co-ordinated efforts by the Ministry of Health, WHO, and partners have brought new cases down dramatically and delivered millions of vaccines.

We now speak to Dr Aggrey Bategereza, Emergency Preparedness and Response Team Lead in South Sudan, about the current situation, the response on the ground, and the lessons learned so far.
