Provisional results in Rwanda show Paul Kagame in the lead an outcome that was widely expected as the longtime ruler aims to extend this three-decade grip on power.

These early results mirror the outcome in 2017 - when Kagame took nearly 99 percent of the vote.

Final results are expected by the 27th of July.

A new World Health Organization report shows that road traffic death rates in the past decade have increased significantly in the African region, with almost 250 000 lives lost on the continent's roads in 2021 alone.

Global rates fell by 5% during the same period.

As Tunisia's elections near, there's been an increase of reports authorities arresting and summoning potential candidates challenging President Kais Saied.

Last week Friday, a judge in a Tunis court put a potential presidential candidate under a gag order and restricted his movements.

Abdellatif Mekki, who served as Tunisia's health minister and was a prominent leader of the Islamist movement Ennahda before founding his own political party, is among a group of former politicians being investigated for the 2014 killing of a prominent physician in the country.
