Malawi Police have arrested high profiled individuals Joseph Mwanamvekha who is the former Minister of Finance and Dr Cliff Chiunda former Secretary to the Treasury.  

Other people arrested include Justice Lloyd Muhara, former Chief Secretary to government and Collins Magalasi, former Chief Executive Officer of Malawi's Energy Regulatory Authority.

The lawyer representing some of the accused Dr Kalekeni Kaphale says the four have been arrested in relation to a government guarantee provided to secure a loan to the government owned Green Belt Authority. It is alleged some procedures may not have been followed.
