Former African Union (AU) Chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is advocating for a borderless Africa with the free movement of people across the continent.

Dlamini-Zuma, who now chairs the advisory council of the African Prosperity Network a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) calling for a borderless Africa- said closer continental cooperation and easier movement of Africans are essential for unity, economic growth and shared prosperity.

Former African Union Chair Pushes for Open Borders on the Continent

The 39th African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government wrapped with leaders reaffirming commitments to peace and security across Africa, advancing the African Union reform agenda, strengthening the AU's participation in the G20, pursuing justice and reparations for people of African descent, and accelerating the implementation of Agenda 2063.

Delivering the outcome report to the media, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahamoud Ali Youssouf said discussions centred on strategic priorities, including reports from assembly committees on Agenda 2063.

Four international aid agencies have joined forces to strengthen the protection of children in Somalia.

Save the Children, World Vision, Plan International and SOS Children's Villages have launched the Joining Forces Somalia Chapter in Mogadishu, aiming to combat violence against children and improve child protection systems amid conflict, climate shocks and limited access to essential services.

‘Joining Forces’ Alliance Launched in Mogadishu to Protect Children

Cyclone Gezani has struck Mozambique's southern province of Inhambane, killing at least four people and leaving thousands without electricity or access to clean water.

The storm hit just a day after devastating Madagascar, where at least 41 people died and tens of thousands were displaced.

Joining Asanda Beda is Guy Taylor, UNICEF Mozambique's Chief of Advocacy, Communication and Partnerships, to discuss the humanitarian response and the impact on children and vulnerable communities.
