The family of murdered South African student activist Caiphus Nyoka, have welcomed the Pretoria High Court sentencing of Johan Marais, a former apartheid police officer - to 15 years in prison. Marais is one of three men charged in connection with Nyoka's murder. He pleaded guilty, while his co-accused, Leon Louis van den Berg, and Abraham Engelbrecht, maintain their innocence. Nyoka was shot and killed at his home in South Africa's Daveyton township in 1987, by members of a police unit created to eliminate individuals labelled terrorists by the apartheid regime.
