Every Wednesday morning Rise and Shine hosts different African achievers, from different industries. One such person is South Africa (SA)'s former and longest-serving Statistician-General, Dr Pali Lehohla.
Born in Lesotho, Dr Lehohla has been recognised throughout the continent for his work, having been awarded numerous Honorary Degrees, including the honorary Doctor of Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an honorary Doctorate by the University of Stellenbosch, as well as a recognition from the regional Institute of Population Studies at the University of Ghana for his contribution in the African public service.
Throughout his career, he has held many different position, including serving as the Vice President of the International Statistics Institute (ISI), Chairing of the United Nations (UN) Statistics Commission as well as forming part of the twenty-five-member panel on Data Revolution appointed by the UN Secretary General.
