Mozambique's ruling party , Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo), has announced Daniel Francisco Chapo, a member of its Central Committee, as the party's candidate for the country's upcoming presidential elections to be held in October.
Chapo garnered 94% of the votes cast in a second round of balloting at the three-day meeting of its central committee held near the country's capital Maputo. Chapo who has never served in the national cabinet is a law graduate and former radio announcer who has also served as governor of the central Inhambane province in 2016.
