One of the aims of the project is to tell African stories from an African perspective by highligting some of the continent's successes and challenges. This year's focus is on climate change and how can Africa finance itself in the mitigation of the effects of climate change.

Channel Africa to Launch 'Africa Matters' to Spotlight African Solutions to Climate Change

That report by Abongwe Kobokana from Parliament in Cape Town. The testimony by private investigator Paul O'Sullivan is part of a wider investigation by South Africa's Parliament into allegations that elements within the country's police and justice system may have been compromised by corruption or organised crime.

The inquiry has heard dramatic testimony from investigators, police officials and former associates, raising questions about the integrity of some law-enforcement structures in Africa's most industrialised economy.

Human Rights Watch has raised serious concerns over a call by the Israeli military for the immediate evacuation of civilians from areas south of the Litani River.

The order affects hundreds of thousands of people in southern Lebanon and warns that anyone moving south could be putting their lives at risk. Rights groups say such sweeping evacuation calls could violate international humanitarian law, particularly if they result in forced displacement or fail to account for vulnerable civilians such as the elderly, the sick, and people with disabilities.
