A Geneva-based human rights group, the World Organization against Torture, has accused the Chadian authorities of summary executions and torture after 50 people died during clashes in the capital N'Djamena and the south. The clashes were between protesters and security forces. The group listed "serious human rights violations" during protests last week against a move by Chad's military ruler to extend his junta's grip on power for two more years. More from Isidore Ngueuleu, Head of the Africa desk at the World Organization against Torture.
