Calls grow in SA for commission to probe criminality within Police Service

View descriptionShare

Parliament’s Chairperson of the Police Committee, Ian Cameron, has called for the establishment of a special commission to investigate criminal activities among members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

This follows damning allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who accused the Police Minister of having links to drug syndicates. Mkhwanazi also implicated the Deputy National Head of Police in alleged acts of corruption.

Cameron, along with other members of the security cluster, addressed the media during a briefing on Monday.
