Many of us may remember in 2020 in the wake of the covid19 pandemic, there were widespread reports of coronavirus-related discrimination against Africans in China with Africans living in the country, sharing their experiences. Concerns were also raised around race-based containment policies during the pandemic.

Human rights watch is calling on the Chinese government to acknowledge and condemn anti-Black racism prevalent on the Chinese internet and adopt measures to promote tolerance and fight prejudice.

They have reviewed many of the videos and posts that portrayed Black people through what they call 'offensive racial stereotypes. To share more about their findings is Yaqiu Wang, senior China researcher at Human Rights Watch..
