Angola's long-awaited Cabinda oil refinery is set to begin production by the end of the year. The 30 000-barrel-per-day facility, the first refinery built since independence, is expected to reduce the country’s reliance on costly fuel imports.
Officials say the project comes at a critical time, as the government moves to phase out fuel subsidies, a process that has already sparked deadly protests.
