Global rights group, Amnesty International has welcomed Zimbabwe's decision to abolish the death penalty for all crimes calling it a "historic moment." In a statement, the organization urged Zimbabwe to go further by removing the state of emergency clause. The country's President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the Death Penalty Abolition Bill into law on New Years Eve. Several civil society organisations led by the Aids Healthcare Foundation gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, to call on the European Union( EU) to stop blocking Health Equity ahead of the final negotiations of the World Health Organisation Pandemic Treaty. They say the treaty cannot move forward until the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing ( PABS) Annex is finalized.   The Annex determines how pathogen samples are shared and whether all countries benefit from vaccines.
