Malawi heads to the polls on 16 September, and Amnesty International says the elections present a crucial opportunity to address long-standing human rights challenges.
In a new human rights manifesto, the organisation raises concerns about shrinking civic space, restrictions on freedom of expression, and weak protections for women, persons with disabilities, migrants, and LGBTI people.
To discuss these concerns and outline what Amnesty expects from the next government, we are joined by Khanyo Farise, Senior Researcher on Civic Space at Amnesty International for East and Southern Africa.
