SECTION27 Urges Gender-Responsive Health Budget to Better Support South African Women

The 26th International AIDS Conference concluded on Friday in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Discussions have centred around numerous issues; however, the diminishing international funding for aid, which has been evident since early last year, remains at the forefront. A special report released by UNAIDS during the conference, indicates that reductions in international funding, coupled with cuts to HIV prevention and community services, are likely to result in a resurgence of the epidemic.
