AFCFTA expected to increase intra-Africa trade in transport services

View descriptionShare

According to estimates by the Economic Commission for Africa, the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is expected to increase intra-Africa trade in transport services by nearly 50 percent. In 2019, air accounted for only 0.9 percent of intra-Africa freight transport. But with the implementation of AfCFTA, this could double airfreight volumes from 2.3 to 4.5 million tonnes by 2030.

In this regard, the potential and possibilities for air cargo will be the focus of the Air Cargo Conference hosted by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport: South Africa (CILTSA), on 23 February 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa...

For more on this Aurelia Kalenga spoke to Elvin Harris CMILT, who is the CILTSA President..
