The 15th BRICS Summit kicks off in Johannesburg South Africa. Whilst the shadow of President Putin's physical absence and the Ukraine War might be a talking point, The summit will also look at possible expansion and particular attention will also be paid to the relationship between BRICS and African countries to tie in with the summit's theme of "BRICS and Africa", For a preview of the summit, Peter Ndoro spoke to Gideon Chitanga, Research Associate at the African Centre for the Study of the United States(ACSUS)  at the University of the Witwatersrand.
