The Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union in South Africa has vowed to continue picketing should their demands not be met.

Union members marched to the health and treasury departments in the capital, Pretoria on Wednesday, saying they are concerned about number of issues affecting the health sector.

This event will be running for the whole week under the theme of "Ahead of the Curve: What's Next for Comms in Africa?".

Africa Communications Week is observed annually during Africa Month, and it is a global campaign targeting and open to all communications professionals with African interests.

The South African Medical Association- has warned that the country is likely to get monkeypox and should therefore prepare to respond immediately.

As cases of monkeypox spread in the United States, Europe, Canada and Australia, the World Health Organisation says 50 more suspected cases are being investigated.

Meanwhile, African journalists have slammed media agencies using images of Black people alongside stories of the monkeypox outbreak in predominantly white countries.

Media Lecturer at the Durban University of Technology, Sphulelele Zondi is one of the African journalists who has lambasted the use the pictures of Black people with the reporting on the monkeypox disease outbreak...

The global community is today honouring nurses for their critical contribution to society as caregivers. International Nurses Day, which is annually observed on the 12th of May also coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The day also serves as an opportunity to highlight challenges that still persist in the nursing profession. This year's theme of commemoration is "Nurses A Voice to Lead - Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health". Josiah Machialo, Nursing Assistant Manager at Helen Joseph Hospital in South Africa tells us about his nursing journey
