West and Central Africa is facing one of its worst hunger crises in recent history, with conflict, climate shocks, and soaring food prices driving millions into extreme food insecurity. In Nigeria alone, over 30 million people are going hungry - a record number. The World Food Programme warns that without urgent funding, life-saving operations could grind to a halt, especially in hard-hit regions like the Lake Chad Basin.
