Venezuela has accused the United States of the "greatest extortion" during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) held on Tuesday, condemning Washington's seizure of two Venezuelan oil tankers as worse than piracy. The session was convened by Slovania under the request of Venezuela supported by other UN member States to address the recent interceptions off Venezuela's coast, as the US confirmed it was also pursuing a third tanker, amid fresh accusations from US President Donald Trump that President Nicolás Maduro is linked to drug trafficking and criminal gangs.
