Today marks World Health Day which is observed annually on 7 April.  This year it is being observed under the theme "Together for health. Stand with science". A year long campaign  has been launched to celebrate the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet. The campaign spotlights both scientific achievements and the multilateral cooperation needed to turn evidence into action - through a strong focus on the One Health approach. Mpho Sithole spoke to the Executive Director of Africa Health Research Institute Professor,  Willem Hanekom.

South Africa's Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, has visited the Lebombo Border Post to assess operations at one of the country's busiest ports of entry. She was joined by Mozambique's Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Jorge Matlombe, as part of a bilateral engagement aimed at improving cross-border efficiency. The visit also includes an inspection of the KM7 truck facility, a key staging area designed to ease congestion and streamline the movement of goods between the two countries. Mpho Sithole spoke to Lwazi Mboyi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) in South Africa.

The event was hosted by the United Nations and the High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in South Africa.Nhlanhla Mahlangu reports.
