Tension is mounting in Tanzania, where prominent opposition leader Tundu Lissu has gone on trial for treason in the capital, Dar es Salaam.
The case comes just weeks before the country heads to a highly contested general election, one that Lissu's Chadema party has already been barred from contesting, raising fears of deepening political repression in East Africa's second-largest economy.
