As South Africa marks National Arbor Week from September 1 to 7, the focus is on something often taken for granted: trees and the role they play in cities and communities. September is recognised as Arbor Month, with this year's theme, "My Tree, My Oxygen, Plant Yours Today", highlighting tree planting, indigenous species and the need to build more resilient urban forests.

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo is also playing a role in promoting greener, healthier public spaces across the city.

Mpho Sithole spoke to Jenny Moodley, Senior Manager for Intergovernmental Relations, Media and Advocacy, and Spokesperson for Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo.
