November is National Children's Month in South Africa, and this year the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and the Department of Social Development are putting the spotlight on child safety under the theme, "Safe to Play. Free to Thrive."

The campaign aims to address the challenges facing children, including violence, poverty and a lack of safe recreational spaces, while encouraging action to create environments where children can grow, learn and play safely.

Mpho Sithole spoke to Karl Muller - Chief Programmes Officer at the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
