The South African Human Rights Commission has hosted a two-day high-level summit on Human Rights and Disinformation in the city of Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape province.

The summit brought together national and international partners,  including human rights institutions from across Africa and beyond, to reflect on the growing threat disinformation poses to constitutional rights, democratic participation, access to services, and social cohesion.

As we edge closer to Channel Africa's inaugural Africa Matters Summit, the conversation is shifting from abstract climate goals to the hard reality of who actually holds the purse strings. While Africa is at the forefront of the global climate crisis, a massive gap remains: the women who produce the majority of our food are often the last to receive the funding needed to protect it. This emerged at the Council of Ministers of SADC in Pretoria, convened to deliberate on the implementation of regional integration programmes.
