Probe into 'SA police corruption' hears 37 testimonies from Minister to detained 'syndicate boss'

View descriptionShare

Various witnesses at the Madlanga Commission have testified that the decision to disband the political killings task team (PKTT), fell outside police Minister Senzo Mchunu's jurisdiction. Mchunu's 31 December 2024 decision is at the heart of investigations by the Madlanga Commission. The Inquiry is looking into allegations of political interference and the suspected infiltration of criminal syndicates in law enforcement agencies. Since the first sitting in September, the Madlanga Commission has heard testimony from 37 witnesses. They include KwaZulu-Natal police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, national police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola and Mchunu as well as North-West businessman Brown Mogotsi.
